This first-of-its-kind event offered attendees an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at San Mateo County Emergency Management and marked the launch of the pilot ASIS x SMCEM Disaster Taskforce, a new model for public–private collaboration in emergency preparedness and response. The afternoon program combined briefings, tours, and candid discussion on the realities organizations face when disruptions occur—and why stronger regional integration is critical.
Participants toured SMCEM’s Regional Operations Center, explored emerging regional threats, and examined how innovative technologies and cross-sector partnerships are shaping modern emergency management. The session also introduced opportunities for charter taskforce membership and executive-level education in resilience leadership. The day concluded with a networking happy hour, reinforcing the importance of rebuilding trusted connections between the private sector and local emergency management to strengthen preparedness ahead of the next major disruption.
